Chasing Amy (1997)
One of the movies watched in our last Netflix heavy weekend (same time we watched Midnight Cowboy and The Tuxedo) we also watched Chasing Amy.
Ben Affleck and his crew made another indie about a guy who falls for a lesbian. The movie was acceptable and potentially entertaining. There was a ton of swearing, and lewd discussion, but it's rated R for a reason.
Not sure I'd recommend going out of your way for it. It's a typical boy meets girl, girl likes girls, boy wins girl over, boy loses girl over something stupid movie. Ben doesn't convince me that he's fallen for her, we have to rely on his statements, nor does his action show that he's really that blown apart by the news that he hears that makes him angry. He certainly acts angry, but doesn't convince me it's for the right reasons.
Interestingly, Jay and Silent Bob make another appearance (said it was the same crew--see Dogma), and Silent Bob isn't so Silent. He's actually the one that phrases Chasing Amy for us, and he does so very well.
Silent Bob and the lesbian are the best bits of the move.
