Day Thirty-Five - Bike Accident
Everything was going swell. We thought to take a lunch-time bike ride as the afternoon threatened with rain.
There's a stretch of road a few blocks away that ends in a big turn-around on a dead end. The kids like to race back and forth with the lowered concern for cars. At some point, the little little decided to run around instead of bike. Then he thought to get in the way of big sister as she rode past him on the sidewalk.
The accident wasn't bad, as she tried stopping at the last moment, after reading she wasn't fast enough to blow by. She hithim in the chest. He spun around and landed on his butt, then rolled into his back. She toppled with her bike, bouncing on the sidewalk before tumbling off on the lawn.
There was crying and a skinned knee, but not severe damage to either kid orvthe bike or yard. We calmed our tears, checked for injuries, and settled the blame game. It gave a good lesson in bike safety, and also a good demonstration for why we want to stay out of the way of cars.
We sent mom a text asking for avride Hime, but managed to walk back before she saw it.
I was a little extra fatigued today. A little bit of wind-stirred allergies, but also I stayed up too late playing with my computer. Others were a little onedge after the crash, too.
Otherwise, all are still healthy. Nomfevers or coughs, but some sneezing, instead.
