Day Forty-Four - Summer-like Thursday
Temperatures soared to about 70°F today. Sunny, with just a few clouds. And a reduced set of meetings, too.
Most of the meetings were in the morning, so that was jammed up. Kids and I had a quick breakfast before I sat in to a bunch of video conferences.
Somewhere in the day, the kiddo's Mac Mini started messing up, and in more than one conference audio wasn't working. Either she couldn't hear the teacher, or the teacher couldn't hear her. Everything checked out OK in the system panel. And in the Google Meet meetings, all of the settings seemed OK. When I switched inputs or outputs they responded predictably on the Mac, but seemed to make little difference in the conference. I also had to switch out the keyboard, because hers was occasionally unresponsive, but I think that might be due to tinkering with the USB cable or other key mashing. There's a lot of extra Bluetooth going on in our house recently, concentrated in the office, too, so that might be something to do with it.
The little little tended to himself much of the day, or would come snuggle in to watch meetings. I feel for the little guy, as I can't spend as much time with him as should be possible given how much time we're in the house together. He's pretty patient, but is occasionally loosing his mind when he can't get companionship or attention.
We did escape the house for a bike ride just before dinner. It made for a tight window, as we had about a half-hour before dinner would be ready. We trekked to the park, where I showed the reader the sign that says "playground equipment is closed," which she shared with the non-reader, so they believed me. They wanted to ride their bikes and run around on the tennis court, which doesn't have a net to help discourage its use. I suggested they do that and then have a "race" around the field, where there's a sidewalk circling the whole thing. That tuckered them out so much that the little guy didn't want to ride his bike any more, and kept "collapsing" and rolling down the hill. I let that go on for a while, but then had to get everyone home for dinner. A little quibble because finally free, but dreadfully heading back to the cave.
Tomorrow is a no-school day for the kids. Monday, too. I've got very few meetings on my calendar, with just a couple important individual conversations. Hopefully we'll be able to get out in the nice weather more.
Everyone is healthy.
