Day 284 - Christmas Day
Santa stopped by last night. Two main questions; how did he get in, and why only one present?
We don't have a fireplace. Really, we don't even have a chimney. Our HVAC vents out the side of the house through curves of PVC tubing. But we've watched more than a few Christmas movies lately, and the Santa ones always show him in homes with fireplaces. There have been some where they show fireplaces magically appearing, but those houses still have chimneys to vent out the roof. We shrugged it off.
For the one present, each, we pointed to the tough year everyone was having. Probably Santa had some supply chain and logistics problems, as dad can attest to from similar things at work. "Boring!" was shouted, and we moved on.
The single presents were accepted after opening, as they were huge remote-controlled cars! Big rubber wheels, Fancy racing dune buggies. All charged up, and rolling around as soon as the packing was removed and the batteries inserted into the controllers.
We spent the rest of the day watching cars zoom around the house, and plugged into some movies.
Wonder Woman was released to streaming on HBOMax, at around noon, so we watched that after lunch. The kids got into it, even, although there were a ton of questions. It made me realize that the neither remembered much of the first movie (watched last probably more than a year ago), and there is a ton of lore that the film doesn't share that we had from comics or the old television show, or our recollection from the first movie. Overall, a good super hero movie. If you expect a great cinematic masterpiece or complete Wonder Woman archival story, you'll probably be disappointed, but it's visually complete, made us laugh at some of the 80s nonsense they pointed out (we were there; they missed a lot, but hit some good stuff), had some good super hero action scenes, and OK characters for the time allotted. I don't recall either of the story lines from my consumption of the previous television or comic stories, but I wasn't a thorough fan, either, so I don't know if these were revived from those canons or created for the movie.
Dinner is being prepared. Traditional lasagna, apparently. I mean, it's clearly lasagna, but I didn't realize it was tradition until it was so called.
Everyone is healthy.
