Day 381 - Manatee Appreciation Day
According to my National Day calendar, it's National Manatee Appreciation Day. I mentioned this to the team in our early meetings, and some joined in changing their backgrounds to manatee images. Oh, the simple fun.
We don't have manatees where we live. I'm not even sure we've got any at our zoo, not that we can visit.
We have been to Belize, and floated in a boat near the mangroves where the manatee were grazing sea grass. Some came to the boat to check us out. The water got murky, and our early digital camera only got swirls of mud, but we did see them. After we lingered with them for a while, we took off for the island where we would snorkel and have lunch. Along the way, we spotted a dolphin and manatee swimming together, popping out of the water from time-to-time. Our guide started chasing after them, hoping to get closer, maybe see a dolphin close up, too. They took off away from the boat, and we couldn't catch them. Who knew manatee were so fast?
Today it's cold outside, pushing 30F degrees for a high so far. Last day of March, so I guess this is the lion to the warm days of lamb to start the month. Huddling inside for a bit.
Everyone's healthy.
