Day 462 - Going on Vacation
The kids have a break between school and summer programs, so we're going to visit the Mississippi Headwaters, and spend a week not at home.
Posting this after we finish, because the internet is where thieves learn of opportunities.
It came about almost as a whim. We've known about the break for a while, but with the pandemic and other travel difficulties, we'd resigned ourselves to staying home and doing some mellow things here. Glancing around, the wife found a lodge with cabins in the north part of the state. And they claimed to have availability. She cited their questionable website, and lack of online reservation system as likely culprits. She called and was able to secure lodging for the week!
Today we're preparing, and tomorrow we're packing the bikes and supplies into the trailer, and heading out for a week not in the house.
Last year, I got a long weekend with a buddy at his cabin, and we took the kids camping for the better part of a week, but there hasn't been anything else like this in a long time.
Here's hoping the kids will have the manners and fortitude to behave. We're also hoping for COVID care and safety, and have no real gauge for what that might be like. Of course, the adults in our house are vaccinated, and we hope for the same for anyone else on vacation, but the kids aren't, and we suspect the same for others also on vacation.
Fingers crossed that all goes well.
Everyone's healthy!
