It's been a week or so since I got my replacement phone. It works great with everything except receiving SMS messages, which has hampered some of my uses because a few 2FA configurations try to use SMS to send me codes.

I can't log into Slack, Twitter, and more because of this. The wife has tried to get the right peeps at Verizon to do the right things with the phone, and they've done so much.

Except this one little thing.

The phone can send messages, but not receive. It can make and receive phone calls. I can connect to WiFi and the 5G cellular network. Only receiving SMS is not working.

My old phone, having been removed from our account, also doesn't receive the messages. I've even tried to use Verizon's web based SMS tool...but it requires you to authenticate with a code sent via SMS...

I have managed to get into a few apps by leveraging other connected devices to either generate a new code or change the 2FA to something else, but there are some things where that doesn't work, or would cause other trouble.

So close, and yet, still not able to do what seems like the simplest things our phones do now.
