Day 759 - More COVID
Yesterday a rapid at-home test was positive for one kid but not the other. A follow-up PRC test at the clinic confirmed both kids are positive.
Both parents’ test results came back negative for COVID, so that’s good to know. That could mean that our vaccines were more effective, or that we hadn’t been exposed as early. We’re waiting to see how this trips through the household.
So far, any symptoms the kids might have had have already passed. The little little still has an occasional cough, but it really does seem just due to some minor congestion. No one has a fever any more, and the big little hasn’t reported any symptoms. I still seem to be the most symptomatic, but it’s all allergies, on schedule.
The kids have to wait until at least Tuesday, and need a negative test, to return to school. We’ve got a number of at-home tests, and we’ll start using them on the weekend to both clear the kids and know if a parent contracts it.
Also on the table, tomorrow the parents have appointments for our second boosters. The wife’s put out a query to the clinic to see if we should postpone because of our exposure. We’re also going to need to be quick about getting our shots, which are at separate appointments separated by a half hour, so that someone can be home with the kids. Also, this is apparently the Moderna booster, while our other vaccines and boosters were the Pfizer. This could mean different reactions, so the weekend might be harder than planned.
Speaking of the weekend, it’s Easter this weekend. We’re not church people, so that’s not a big deal, but we still do the candy and Easter Bunny things. That might be trickier if we’re sicker.
Mostly healthy. Two kids with COVID, but no impeding or concerning symptoms. The rest of us are waiting to see.
