Day Twenty-Six - Normal Saturday
It turned into a fantastic day, with warm, sunny weather, and pretty happy everyone.
The wife and kids built a pop-up greenhouse in preparation of our seedlings, for when the weather gets warmer. Lots of beans, peppers, tomatoes, and melons to fill our garden. This means a little garden repair is due. We've got five great big planting boxes, all of which have some damage. They're about five or six years old, and the only maintenance has been weeding. Two have broken boards, pushed away by the soil inside. All have questionable holds in the corners. Some bracing and turning of the soil is due.
The peak of the day was a bike ride. Since it's been so cold and windy the last few days, we've been skipping these much needed excursions. We set out for one of the longer routes around the neighborhood. We made it half-way on leg one when we had a bit of a skinned-knee, and had to abandon our riding for the dire pain it was causing. The older little had seen a car at the next intersection, a good half-block away, stopped at a sign. She lurched for the curb, and stopped short. The younger little didn't have as much time to react, turned sharply, and in not quite slow motion, skid to the ground on elbows and knees. We brushed off some dirt, applied a Kleenex compress for a bit, and then decided to head home for the all-healing Band-aid. Dinner was ready, and we were sore and tired from our ride, so we decided to stay in after.
We turned on some good old Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. The littles weren't especially keen, until the very early Jedi battles. Then there was no stopping the show. We're going to see if we can make it through all of them, as there were a great many questions as we watched Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on Friday.
Everyone's healthy.
