Day Twenty-Nine - Visitor
For the first time in over a month, side before this began, someone else came into the house.
We had ordered new doors last fall. They were finally installed in February, if I recall. Today they finished the last bits. There were some missing, and other incorrect, screws holding on the screen door. There was also supposed to be a "partially open" lock on the sliding glass door. The very nice service guy swung by to quickly do that.
In part to stay socially distant, and to take a break from the house, I took the kids on a little car ride. We dropped off some outbound mail at the post office box. We stopped at the parcel shop and I had the longest distance hand-off to date, sending something to Amazon. And we stopped for some drive-through lunch. It was nice to get out, even for just a drive. The kids were disappointed that we couldn't eat out, but at least we got out.
Naptimes, after lunch, was unfortunately ended with an apologetic "I wet your bed, dad." The little little takes naps in the big parent's bed, while I usually take after lunch meetings in the corner chair. I hope to be able to take them outside now that the door works, if the weather ever allows. But they normally go with him drifting off a few minutes after the meetings start, and he'll rise an hour or so later and go play. But not today. So extra bed laundry today...
Otherwise, an ordinary socially distant work day.
Oh, after dinner we filmed part two (I don't think I mentioned part one) of a thing our adoption group is doing. Someone saw a video where some Marshallese would appear in normal clothes, get tossed a fan, block the camera with a fan, and when unblocked, they'd be all decked out. So we filmed befores yesterday, and Afters tonight. I'll share a link if I get one of the final product.
Everyone is healthy. I did manage to do something to my right heel, though. Spent most of last night restless because of it. Sat through my morning meetings with it on an ice pack. Bound it in a hightop and stepped lightly, limping all day. Fingers crossed it fades tonight.
