Day Forty-Seven - Sleepy Sunday
It was either allergies or the little little again climb into our bed in the middle of the night, but I was super-drowsy all day long.
A pretty mellow weekend day. Cooler than the last few days, but not quite cold. We all spent most of our time indoors. The wife took the task of setting up separate bedrooms for the kids, while I inadvertently dozed or napped the day away.
The kids started out with separate rooms. At one point we entertained the idea of hosting a visiting student teacher at the daughter's immersion school. They deserve (and require) their own bedroom, so we vacated the boy's room and combined them into bunk beds in one bedroom, after they found that they loved the idea on vacation. Then the virus hit, and everything stalled. Lately, the boy has been getting harder to get to sleep, which is also impacting the girl's ability to fall asleep. This in turn makes it hard for everyone to get rested.
So we moved the bigger bed in the spare room to the daughter's room. Then moved the bunk beds (which had been separated into two beds previously) into the son's room. And by "we," I mean the wife, since she took it to muscle all of the things, and do the extra cleaning and rearranging.
The kids and I took a break for some take-out lunch at one point. A long drive with the windows down gave the kids much chance to "woo hoo" and feel some breeze on their faces. We ended up grabbing something just down the road a bit, but the wheel-spinning and windy Jeep helped morale a lot.
The boy took his normal post-lunch nap, with only the caveat that I do, too. I think I crashed first. I know I slept longer. I hadn't planned to do either, so I was a bit chilly after the kids made enough post-nap noise to cause me to stir. I crawled beneath the covers to warm a bit. Then the wife came and said "let's take everyone to the park." This included the dogs, as the kids like to take them off-leash in the tennis court. The tennis court was occupied, so we suggested a dog-walk around the fields, which didn't last long.
Home for dinner, baths, and other bedtime prep.
On the surface, everyone seems to enjoy the new bedroom scheme. Of course, at bedtime, not so enjoyable, as they both kind of miss the combined room. I did put a Google Home Mini also in the boy's bedroom, so they both have one. That took some adjusting, too, because the services don't like being played on more than one device at a time. Maybe I need different services, but we do pay for them, so it's not like we're breaking the "free" bank here. So one gets songs from one service, and the other gets songs from another service.
Except for sleeping much of the day, everyone's healthy.
