Day Fifty-Seven - Like the Chevy
Usual Wednesday stuff. The governor spoke about the next steps, so that was different.
We had a pretty good day. It was cool, with spots of rain. Never anything heavy, but enough to annoy the kids into staying indoors most of the time. We did make a little break and played a little catch for a bit. That was nice.
Ran for a little ride and take-out food. Ordered on-line to make the pick-up quicker. Bag of food, hard to check, but found none of the drinks was in there when we got home. I was looking forward to a little Coke. Disappointing.
After work and dinner, we listened to the governor’s talk about the next phase. Technically our current orders for stay-at-home and businesses-closed ends on Monday. There were speculations that he was going to let it go, which I doubted. There were news stories of threats of disobedience by some business owners tired of the closures.
In the end, he did relax some of the general rules, allowing for better use of support systems, and recognizing the value of the flattened curve in getting the healthcare system prepared for more. He did strongly advise continuing to stay home and work from home if possible. Still no public gatherings of more than ten people, and shops that do open still need to limit patrons and enforce safety measures.
In all, he said let’s evaluate again June first. See if the little change makes things worse.
Then I saw a news story that the Wisconsin Supreme Court overturned their state’s health rules, noting them out of bounds for their executive branch. Seemingly, Wisconsin has no health mandates.
We’re still social distancing, staying and working from home. Mostly because schools are still closed, and no day cares suit our safety concerns. Plus my company still supports a strong work-from-home edict.
We let the kids watch a little of their new favorite TV, AFV, until we hit 7:30, and I hard-stopped by turning the tube off. Well, the flat-screen, where there are no tubes; that’ll get lost on the new generation, huh? We had a limited success with bedtime last night, with much lingering after actually going to bed, that we went straight to prep, warning them of waning time. Toilet, PJs, toothbrush, bed...pretty much on time at 8:10. Still awake at 9, but in bed.
It’s raining a little again, and supposed to intermittently all night. A little chilly, but probably leave the window cracked for some good spring rain air.
Everyone’s healthy.
