Day Ninety-Seven - Father's Day
We started the day a little pre-virus normal, with some virus and social-distancing care.
We went for a father's day breakfast at a nearby favorite restaurant for early, socially-distanced, outdoor seating. One of our usual breakfast places is the Good Day Cafe. We usually get there for one or two weekend breakfasts a month, especially if we've got visitors from out of town. Good eggs, selection of pancakes, and generous, thick bacon. They make their own bread and jams, and have a pretty full coffee selection. The only complaint I've ever had about the place is that if you show up on a whim during a probably-busy time, you're going to have to wait. This can be mitigated by calling ahead, but sometimes that wait is long, too.
We made for a lazy 8AM start. Had some time to get everyone awake and dressed, tend to the dogs a little, and have a pre-breakfast snack for the hungry littles. We went in, and then walked through the whole restaurant (masked, of course), instead of around the outside of the building, which made us shrug a little. They do brag about their new air treatment system, and it must do something, because it made me uncomfortably sneezy on the walk through. I managed to stifle my sneeze until the very end of the walk through the restaurant, but then struggled with a few extras after getting outside again.
There were only a couple other tables occupied. The tables were all two- or four-seats, and were a little more spaced than normal. Inside didn't look any different, so maybe they only sat every-other. We took a seat a little away from the other parties, and eagerly perused the menu. All of our favorites were there. We ordered coffee and juices and a Greyhound for dad on dad's day, and started with some cinnamon rolls. We ordered some of our favorite dishes, and had a nice chat sitting in a restaurant for the first time about three months. Well, outside a restaurant, which we'd done before at the drive-in...but still.
After, we took a little drive around, stalling while a pick-up order was fulfilled. As we made our way toward the house, the alert that the order was ready arrived, so we swung through, grabbed our purchase, and meandered home.
We stayed home and puttered around the house. Kiddo and dad took a nap. Some television and yard play happened. A good day all around.
Everyone is healthy.
