Day 356 - Spring Arrives!
This afternoon was a little cool still, but hit the upper 40Fs today, but the forecast for tomorrow is even better.
We started the day with some late swimming lessons. In the previous round, our little lessons were at 9AM and the big lessons at 10AM, for a half-hour each. We would take one, return home, and the other parent would take the other. This led to a little bit of difficulty as the little needed a parent in the pool, as he's a little short for the shallow end of the pool still, so there was longer locker room time as two people needed to get wet and dressed. With this round, both classes are at the same time, so really only one parent needs to go, but we decided to both go, so that no one has to go into the locker room alone.
I got dressed and in the pool with the little, while the big went in by herself in the deep end. The suggestion was made by the swim coach, as the little swims well enough to be in the advanced class, but is too short, and the shorty class was full. He's right on the cusp. I ended up lurking at the edges, just enjoying a little floating quiet time, and occasional attempts to redirect kiddo's attention to listen to the swim teacher. At the very end, he jumped to me and we took a meandering swim across the pool to get out. Really, my presence wasn't necessary. We'll see what's expected next week, as this week wasn't the same coach.
We grabbed some take-out for lunch, since we finished swimming in time for an early lunch. Kiddos suggested this be the normal pattern now, to finish swimming and grab lunch. It's a small shift, but we'll roll with it.
We spent the rest of the day padding around the house. Warmer, but not really work the yard warm. Also, much of the yard is covered in snow, and what isn't is covered in puddles from snow melt. So a little decluttering, and nothing more. Laundry and other inside cleaning needed to be done. I thought to do the last toilet plumbing, but ultimately put that off.
In all, a good day. Seems like a light at the end of the tunnel day, not unlike every spring. With vaccines and optimistic continuing declines in infections, school might continue to the end, and more careful openings with the warm weather could lead to the newer normal. We're thinking it'll be an ease back, with cautious participation, and masks, for a while.
Looking forward to a warmer tomorrow. Maybe we'll get some feet on the streets, and see how bad the parks are with snow and mud and wetness.
Everyone is healthy.
