Day 418 - Visitors
The older daughter brought the granddaughters and her new beau to visit!
We started with some ideas of brunch and hanging out with family, with a little break for baseball photos. Everything went different.
We skipped our normal Saturday swimming lessons to head to the VRBO the elder kid is renting. The boyo and I tried to swing by the barber shop for a haircut, but had to postpone because they're scheduling now, so pinned 12:45 for our trims. We headed then, at about the appointed time, to visit. Cute place, good breakfast, great company. We bantered and chatted, met the beau. He seems swell, and makes a mean bowl of bacon!
We took off so that we could get home to put on uniforms and get our haircut before pictures, and made a loose plan for meeting at the park after. We couldn't get our acts together, so the kiddo didn't put his uniform on before we left. We left a few minutes late for timely arrival at the barber's, and found their little parking lot packed. I waited for an opening, instead of double-parking, figuring there probably would be no place for our butts if we went in anyway. Ten minutes passed, or roughly the amount of time it takes to cut our hair (when done simultaneously), and we were able to get in. They were behind, so no worries, but now we were pressing timelines for team photos! We finished our haircuts right at the time we should have arrived for photos; fingers were crossed hoping they would also be behind.
We got to the park and quickly tossed on kiddo's uniform and dashed for the field. We were there just as they were finishing the first half of the team's individual photos. A nearly literal photo finish. Kid took his photo, and we fit into the team photo with everyone there. Whew! Then the kids took off for a few minutes of play in the playground.
I worked to coordinate where to go next. The others had gone to the park as planned, but instead of waiting there for us, thought to break for lunch; grab some takeout and head to a different park. So we did that. Somehow we got to the park a long time before the others. They hadn't left just yet, and got distracted faux fishing in the stream at that park for a while. Kiddo didn't really want lunch, and I ate in the car while we waited.
We all got together, and the kids played while the adults talked. Lunch was alternated in as needed. Occasionally, the kids would come grab an adult to help swing or climb or whatever, until the adult returned to chat more. After an hour or so, everyone was getting a little cold, so we retired to our house to warm up, and so the kids could show off their new bikes.
We chatted more, and then the visitors had to go. They had plans with others, not that we were getting rid of them. The house quieter, we settled in with some normal evening things and set to turn in. Little little turned in before everyone else, missing dinner while sleeping on the couch. Always nervous this turns into power nap, we rushed him into PJs and then into bed, where a short story time sent him back to sleepy time.
Everyone's healthy.
