Day 420 - Clean Your Room Day
Our room is pretty clean, with some piles of too many books, and sometimes we're a little behind on vacuming, and always on dusting. Instead, we took on the basement.
In preparation for probably hosting an intern at the kids' school in the fall, we're clearing space of things that should have been tossed long ago. The basement has become a bit of extra storage, and in a lot of cases, carelessly placed things, and in other cases, "how do we discard this?" things. Today we set to get rid of some of the low-hanging fruit, and hopefully end up with a bit of space in the basement.
The first thing to go was the weight bench. We started heavy. More than 200 pounds of free weights, bars, bench, and dumbbells were lugged up the stairs and into the garage. It was disassembled below and reassembled above to take photos to sell online. Within minutes of posting, some peeps made offers, one going $50 more than we asked. We went with the first guy, which seemed more fair and less greedy. He was pretty nice, showing up in a Honda sedan to car this away. Back seats lowered and all the iron parts jammed into the car, a brief exchange of cash, and he was off. The wife shared that shortly after, he apparently posted it online to sell for a little profit. I guess that's what we get for being a little nice.
I was supposed to take a few days off this week to commit to helping, but didn't align my schedules. It's a light week, and I am able to churn at some work in the basement between some things for the office. I don't "contribute" in a constant output way, so the tens of minutes between halfs-of-hours long meetings both gives some effort and rest.
Shortly, I'll help dig into the last bit I'd thought to be able to get done today. I need to pull all of the 15-years or older paint cans from beneath the work bench, and then I have a "center of room" pile of papers, cables, and assorted nonsense to rearrange or dispose of.
I also woke with some tremendous sunburn on the left side of my face and neck. The sunburn has a clear omission where my mask was, so it was likely during yesterday's baseball or post-visit park adventures. In both cases, I had my mask on the whole time, and was generally facing with the sun on my left. I've been and will generally be applying lots of aloe to help remedy the redness.
Everyone's healthy.
