Day 472 - COVID Re-tests
We learned this afternoon, after much languish from the kids about how we hadn't received our test results within 24 hours, that something happened at the lab, and we need to re-take our COVID tests.
The lessons learned yesterday let the kids have their iPads, so getting going was easier. They weren't as apprehensive about the test, but did have reservations that we would be wrong about the retesting done. But, with iPad distractions right up to the re-testing, it went even quicker than before.
After a frustrating morning watching the results not arrive, a call came from the clinic to ask us to return for high-priority re-testing. An undisclosed thing had happened to our tests and the other tests in our batch at the lab, and we would need to resubmit samples. We were given immediate appointments, after they re-opened after lunch, and our samples would be given priority and our responses would be entered immediately after testing.
We arrived again with a few cars in the other lane (the lane entrances are far enough back that the front isn't visible), and one car ahead of us, also approaching the doorway. The doorway was blocked by a traffic cone, so he started reversing, presumably to enter the other lane. He opened his door and shouted "this lane is closed..." and wanted us to also back-up. I started to, and then another car appeared behind me, so I stopped. I also realized we were there a few minutes prior to the post-lunch reopening, so I shouted that at him when he turned back to see why I'd stopped. He returned to the head of the line, and moments later they removed the cone and he moved forward, with a practically giddy thumbs-up to us.
He was alone and processed very quickly. We pulled up, and endured a little back and forth as they found our stuff in a "new batch" of rescheduled tests. Very friendly the whole time, just a small deviation from the norm, but not a new deviation. Swabs were quick and simple, and we were on our way in just a few minutes again.
The kids are bummed to have to wait the whole day, now that we know that we don't know if we're infected. But, with iPads and movies, and a drive-through milkshake, all angry went away.
Fingers crossed it all works out this time.
Everyone's healthy.
