I like baseball, and enjoy coaching the kiddos, but this season seems to be very long.

We did get a bit of a late start, because it was brutally cold early in the spring. It's hard to remember that, now that every day is pushing or breaking temperature records. We did a short one, having most of the kids take field positions and turns batting, rotating with each batter. The batter hit off the T, while I tried to help them improve their stance and swing. Most of them line up with toes practically on home plate. Few of them lift their elbows. And almost all of them are looking where they want the ball to go, so I'm trying to help them understand what "keep your eye on the ball" means.

We have a few weeks left, and I'm sure we'll both melt before it's over.
