Day 414 - May the Fourth
May the Fourth be with you.
As a kid, I loved Star Wars. As a young adult, also. And, now as an older adult. It's watched occasionally, maybe a little less now that it's on-demand with Disney+, but still every once in a while an adventure with stormtroopers hits our screen. There are abundant toys, clothes, and other reminders throughout the house, too.
Today is also the little little's first full day back at school. We appreciate the school's pandemic routines and lack of incidents, and more importantly feedback from his half-day teacher that a little more class time might help reign in some of his spirit. The half-day classes are just barely enough to overcome the joy of getting together with friends, read a story, have a snack, and get ready to go home again. He's pretty committed to activities at home, like playing with cars, watching TV or videos on his tablet, playing video games, or teasing the dogs, but none of that is as focused as we hope school activities are. The full-day program is still mostly playing, but with a few more occurrences of focused time.
It's the first full day that the adults have had without kids in more than 414 days. We've had our individual escapes, with errands or short visits. I did spend a couple days last summer helping a buddy at his cabin; long ride, day there, long ride back. Now I want a long ride somewhere...
Star Wars day today. We'll see if anyone wants to watch anything.
Everyone's healthy.
