One Step Closer
The server now runs an installation of JBoss/Tomcat, and it is now integrated into the Apache web server. My apologies to all of our users who have endured the ups-and-downs of the server for the last two days as I got past my typos and configuration mistakes.
The integration of Tomcat to the Apache web server opens a realm of possibility that I needed to continue some personal development projects, as well as meet the needs of other users of my system, as well as allow some additional documentation and preparation for future enhancements.
I am jotting down notes to rebuild one of my servers. It's the last holdout of Windows servers. There are four lingering, un-maintained web sites on the server that I'm about to migrate away. One is mine; an old, old, old VB ASP site, written when that was cool, and before JSP caught on. I'm on the brink of getting an ASP interpreter working on this Tomcat installation, and I'm also softly committing to porting my ASP work to JSP, if not entire J2EE applications, where it makes sense.
Oh, and I found an add-on for my WebMin that allows me to edit text files on the server. A work around until I get some Java in place that allows better site management.
The door's open now! Why did I procrastinate?
