Alfie (2004)
I thought I already logged that I'd seen this movie, but it isn't here, so either I'm mistaken, or I deleted it, or I never saved it. Curious.
Jude Law plays Alfie, the title character, in this remake of a 1966 movie of the same title staring Michael Caine in the title role. I've never seen the original, and until I read the description I didn't know it was a remake.
Essentially it's the tale of a good-looking, confident, twenty-something who's got an easy job and dates a lot of women. He's got little attachment to any of them, and moves on when it starts to get complicated.
It's a fair little slice of life movie. I'm not disappointed by losing the time I spent watching it, but it's certainly nothing to rave about. Well shot, clear story, fairly fast-paced, well-held plot, and the characters are well-acted, so it's got some movie worthiness, but it is not a very exciting tale, nor is there much in the way of conflict. A little personal conflict as Alfie finds himself in undesirable situations, and some development as he resolves his situation and moves on, but nothing really, well, exciting.
