All Lights Out
It isn't just the headlamp that's out on the motorcycle, but the instrument lights are out, too.
The signals and brake lights work, but the front lights do not. Leads me to now believe I've got a failed component, or that the fuse blew again, leading me to believe I have a failed component...
It's state law that the headlamp be on while riding the motorcycle, so I've got to get it repaired. I sent an e-mail to the shop that revived the old bike for me. I didn't mention the lights, but I would imagine they'll notice when I show up and they're not on...
I also want the read springs tightened a little. I'm probably too big for the settings they're on now, and I "bottom-out" on what seem to be some relatively light lumps and bumps in the road. A more springy ride might make the commutes a little friendlier.
I'm still on the brink of replacing or repairing this one. Really all it needs are some new tires, a new seat, and some really minor cosmetic work. The mechanic noticed some wear on the tires last year, but said it'd probably be OK for another year--that's now. The current, original seat is cracked, so the former owner wrapped the seat with a sheet of pleather, which makes it look nicer, but it has no sewn-in contour so it makes for a slicker ride than it should be. One of the side panels is missing, one of the turnsignals is a different color, and the gas tank wasn't covered with a gas-friendly varnish, none of which affect operations, just the appearance.
It's a $400 set of repairs I can do myself, or $11,000 for a bigger bike that I can take cruising for longer...
