Let the Streak Begin
The alley is clear, the skies a little cloudy but nothing is falling out of them. The temperature is a brisk 36F degrees, so there's just a little bit of slippery frost on the ground. Later it's supposed to be 63F degrees. Sounds like a fantastic day to break out the bike.
The ride was gentle and uneventful. I wasn't as unexpected as when I rode in January, it seems. It has been only about three weeks since I last got out on two wheels, and three weeks before that errand running ride was probably really the end of last year's streak. I've technically (if one ride counts) ridden nearly every month for the last year. Certainly every month this calendar year.
Wait. That isn't right. There was a stretch in 2011 when we were out of the country, so I guess there's a 70 day span I didn't ride. How odd is it that there was a longer gap last summer than this winter? I guess, then, the challenge is before me to ride into May, which will give me that year-long run.
I could have pulled the Valkyrie out more in February. There were enough nice enough days. The alley was a little rough, but I could have cleared a path; I've done that before...
Still, the summer lies ahead. I'm not going to lament missed opportunities, but will take what opportunities I have moving forward. Ride safe, all. Ride safe.
