Even before COVID-19, our state allowed early voting. This year it's become a little more essential. I went and did, and now it's done.

I had planned to show up on regular voting day and cast my vote at the polls, but the wife encouraged me to do it early. I took the kids to the park, and they tired of the one, but hadn't tired of outdoor play. So we went to the park next to our city hall, which happens to be my polling station for this election, and they happened to be set up for early voting.

There was no line, with one person entering just moments before I did. Plenty of social distancing and plexiglass protective screens, and everyone wearing masks. I strode through the aisles as directed. I shared my info, went through the witnessing and got my ballot, scribbled in the right circles, and stuffed it all in the packages, finally dropping it into the collection box at the end of the thread. I did forget to grab an "I voted!" sticker, but they didn't have one different than the one already on my laptop, so no real loss; since I was going to be home for the rest of the day, the patriotic proclamation of completing my duty wouldn't be impressing anyone anyway.

Now we just need to wait for the polls to close, the ballots to be counted, and the lawsuits or tantrums to complete.
