Visual Basic
I'm a consultant; a software consultant. I write, manage, implement, design, document, and otherwise tamper with things related to software. Right now I'm in a bit of a stretch of development. Been doing Java a while, and have a C++ project currently.
As a consultant, I'm often looking for the next thing. The thing I'm on now has a solid deadline, and the deadline is fast approaching. Once it hits, I'll be looking even harder. In the meantime, when little bits pop up, I check them out.
Today I met with a group that needs some web development done in VB Script. Yes, Visual Basic Script, on ASP pages. How 1990's. They teased me, my handlers did, by dangling a porting project; it's VB now, you see, and they want J2EE web services when they're done. Yeah, that's the ticket.
Not so, was the gist of what I got from the interview. No, we like it much the way it is, we're looking for some help in doing more of the same. Much of it is property file now; thousands of entries for each site we host.
Sounds like a fine candidate for a web service.
I'm not bitter, though. Might sound like it. That's just the C++ project getting on my nerves.
