Another comic great, Don Adams of Get Smart, has died today at the age of 82.

Evidently he had a lung infection, a complication from a broken hip earlier this year.

Get Smart was probably my favorite television series as a kid. I remember some time during syndication, after I first got cable television, when it was on three times a day on two different channels. Three different episodes every day, and seldom a repeat in a week.

Even as a kid I knew that it was a spoof, and it opened my eyes to what satire could be. I was amazed when I saw Adams in an interview that he didn't really talk like he did as Maxwell Smart; very nasally. I was also sad to realize that I hadn't ever seen him in another role. According to one of the reports today, he was stuck as Smart because of the voice.
