It's been a long time coming, but we finally got him to throw an extra 512MB in his 256MB machine...

It took a new 3D game, with apparent memory leaks, to do it, but in the few minutes after the upgrade he claimed the machine performed better. What took minutes before as he loaded saved games took seconds now. I explaiined that now the game had a very large RAM workspace, and not so much, if anything, would be swapped to hard disk. He gave the dull stare of techno-speak going over his head, so I let him slide.
