Big Snowstorm
The news said between 1-inch and 10-inches overnight to mid-day.
They weren't wrong. Despite the spread in estimates including the amount of snow and speed of accumulation, the bit of snow that had re-covered the ground last night grew to shin-deep drifts that propelled some drivers to the side of the road.
The storm seems to have stretched northeast from San Diego to Duluth. Even Arizona got some snow, according to the WeatherChannel.
Of course, we've got the magic-traction Jeep (the Explorer's been turned back in as the lease ended), so the snow wasn't nearly as challenging in either depth or slickness. A little care plowing through the drifts and swells, some extra distance for starting or stopping, and all was well.
As it is, the drive to work is only about a mile; literally one exit up the freeway, and under the bridge to the other side. I joke that I could see my house from the upper floors of the building (I'm on the first floor), but it's probably true; the house is nearly as tall as the nearby leafless trees, so it might be visible with the right line of sight. Of course, there is another building across the parking lot that might be in the way--hadn't considered that until just this moment.
Because of the continuning snowfall, I parked the Jeep in the ramp instead of the lot on the otherside of the building. The Jeep spends the nights in the garage, so I was hoping to avoid an unnecessary build-up of snow.
I should look like I'm working now...
