Mac Slate Mod
Someone else (with a little more electronics-level know how than I have) seems to have agreed with my design for a simple slate PC by taking a laptop and pulling the keyboard off. Of course, my description is conversationally over-simplified. Kudos to the folks at Axiotron for what they call the Modbook, which is quite literally built by taking apart a new Apple MacBook, adding a touch screen, and putting it back together in a keyboard-less PC in a slate format. Not to take anything from these marketing pioneers, but I hope the manufacturers take note and start making them this way right off the assembly line.
