Vikings Season Almost Over
The only team in the division to lose today was the Vikings. They gave the Chiefs their first win of the season. They played pretty poorly, right at the level, it seems, of their opponent, who played just a few points better.
During the game, they flashed a message that noted that only one team in the history of the NFL has started 0-4 and still made the playoffs. It is possible that the Vikings can turn their season around and win the rest, going 12-4, which only helps if the other division teams start playing .500 ball and end up 10-6, or close to it. If the Vikings can only pull off .500 ball, they end up 6-10.
It's probably too early to call the season, but it's pretty close. At least as far as the Vikings and any playoff chances are concerned. I mean, good on 'em if they stage a come-back while the other teams collapse, but there are two undefeated teams in the division. That's just a four game spread; if the Vikings win their next four and those teams loose theirs, they'd be tied at 4-4. But none of those teams are playing like .500 ball clubs. The Vikings aren't playing that well, and the Lions or Packers aren't playing that badly. Only the Bears are playing .500 ball, at 2-2.
I've decided it's best to just watch the games for the entertainment, when it's there, and not get too invested in the team. I guess it was a long Twins season after all...
