MLB TV Fails
OK, so they probably do just fine by lots of people, but until they get different blackout restrictions, I won't be adding it to my viewing options.
Yesterday the "free game of the day" was the Twins at the Yankees, which suited me just fine to try it out. I bonked the link in my AtBat app on my phone, and was swiftly rejected with a "one of these teams is in your blackout area" message. So that confirms that if I had dropped the hundred bucks for the service that I wouldn't be able to watch the team I wanted to wach most.
I know that it's probably a deal they had to make to get FoxSports North to carry the games. That's a deal made to try to get us to buy cable or satellite television service. I don't have either, and at the moment don't want either. I've got too many television options without those expensive services coming into the house, and pretty much on demand, in HD, and with not too many commercials (most of the time).
There's going to be a paradigm shift from the provider to the content; there has to be with the abunance of devices capable of providing content that don't have (or necessarily want) connection to a provider. I hope it comes sooner than later.
