Server Reboot - Unplanned but Nice
While moving something around, I accidentally hit a key on my server's keyboard.
Without prompting, it accepted the bump on the power button, and promptly started a shut-down.
Thankfully, it was a performed as a normal shut-down, so the server restarted just fine.
Still, alerts and outages reported for the few minutes it took. A groovy check of the monitoring, and hard memory and cache resetting!
I am looking for a keyboard without a power button. Probably one not so "indestructible," and a little easier to type on. I do have another, smaller version of this same thing, but it doesn't work any more...so much for indestructible. I do like my glowing mechanical keyboards, so maybe I'll re-purpose one of them, or pick up another, similar keyboard. All of the mechanical keyboards I have are wireless, and the server doesn't need that. It could benefit from back-lighting, as I don't always turn on the light in the server area. Also the extended keypad, which none of my mechanical keyboards have.
