Servers Need Attention
Just a reminder to myself, and an apology to anyone who has been having difficulty checking out my sites, that I need to fix some things on my network.
A flurry of updates that I haven't fully vetted or investigated seem to have introduced some config or option changes that my various scripts aren't reflecting.
For example, the Tomcat server that runs on the root of the site wasn't starting because a parameter has been removed from the new JDK installed on the server. I'd been using a managed version instead of the OS offering, but something affected the path and now the OS one is winning, and it's a touch newer than the one I'd installed.
Also, my DB server is a few versions old, and that's running on an OS that isn't supported any more, on a platform that no one uses any more. I need to shuffle the databases to a new server run on newer hardware, at least in a contemporary OS.
And some of this stuff is just aging poorly. Heck, this blog software isn't even supported any more. I've been reluctant to try to replace it with something that still works, or to dive into the FOSS that it is to make it work with newer versions of PHP...or make my own...
I've got time, but I need to get back into sitting in front of the computer screens to do it.
