Network Routing Next Step
It's been a quiet week on the network front, so I rattled the cage a little today to see if all stays well.
I have IPv6 behaving on the WiFi network and server port connected to the new network. I've readdressed some of the IPv4 addresses to use the server's new address, and given them IPv6 addresses as well. I also changed the mail server to allow it to use the new IP, but I didn't change any DNS pointing to it.
Today I shuffled the rest of the DNS pointing to the server I've been testing with, and changed the mail server's default "from" IP. It should be the case that everything starts using the new network, and traffic will dwindle on the other.
In a bit I plan to plug the other Internet-connected server to the new subnet and start ensuring that addressing works, and test with its services, too.
Over the weekend I might disable or disconnect the servers from their old IPs, which will mean it's time to cancel those older slower services.
I've been neglecting my duty to cancel my old fiber service and return that gear. There are a couple of WiFi modules they included with that, but I never connected them, so I have to find the corner I tucked them into. They were put in an easy to find spot, but then we rearranged the house, and then took our garage apart, and now who knows where some of the things ended up?
Getting close to done.
