Power Outage
The power went off for about three hours. Everything seems fine.
I had dropped the kiddo off at the park to hang with her friends not long after she got home from school. About an hour later I zipped to pick her up just as the storm started. Before we got home I got a call from the missus informing me that the power had gone out, trapping her Jeep in the garage, so she needed mine to make it to her hair appointment, where she'd confirmed they still had power.
I got home to a dark, dark house. The kids and I chilled watching some video on the iPad, streaming via the phone hot spot, until bedtime. There was brief interruption as the neighbor asked me to help with their smoke detector which seemed to be weirdly triggered. It turned out to be their alarm disagreeing with the power outage, so I pulled its battery, showing them where it is so they could restore it later.
Bedtime came with no trouble, but a little lamenting at the lack of music and light display. A few minutes later, snoring ensued, so the lamenting wasn't really necessary.
I settled in to watch a movie, waiting for the baseball game to start on the west coast. It's pretty good, so I'll probably finish it before turning on the game in later innings.
The power popped on a few minutes ago, and I'm running through the checks to see that all is well. It was long enough that the UPSs ran out of power, and I've continually neglected to connect them to the computers to allow them to know the UPSs are running dry and shut down carefully. So far so good.
Three hours down, not too bad, considering their estimate was 12 hours until restoration.
