Router Seized
No, not in the way law enforcement would do it, but more like an engine without oil might act.
Early this morning I realized the firewall/router in front of this server had stopped responding. I attempted to access the network by another gateway and reset the router remotely, but the firewall behind which I'm working now stood in the way.
I had to make a quick dash home at lunch and pull its plug. Once the plug was reinserted, activity resumed on the LAN port to the server, and all was well. A couple quick checks from the server, and I was on my way back to the office.
In real time it took an hour and some to perform a simple two-second action. I've got to get something in place on the LAN that I can trigger securely from elsewhere via just a web page; the web server on the other LAN-based server worked.
