Finding Neverland (2004)
We rented this charming story about the creation of the Peter Pan story, and watched it on Saturday last.
I have no idea of the film's tie to reality, but the story is enough that I'll accept it anyway.
Johnny Depp plays James Barrie, a play write who's found a muse in a charming widow (Kate Winslet) and her four young boys. Through childish play with the boys, Barrie chronicles some of the adventures they imagine and creates from them the stage play of Peter Pan.
There's a little discomfort for him when Barrie, a married man, is socially viewed as behaving inappropriately with the widow and her children, but Depp's character ignores the social pressure and continues doing what he believes is right, and what he needs to create the masterpiece.
Thumbs up recommendation from me.
