Weather Foils Springtime Fun
It rained yesterday. It's raining in spurts today. It's supposed to continue raining tomorrow. Oh, and there's been spotty snow, and the temperature is such that a stiff breeze could drop it to freezing--probably permanently if history means anything.
This is negatively impacting my baseball watching and motorcycle riding!
Because of the all-day heavy rain yesterday, the Twins postponed that game against the Tampa Bay Rays until tomorrow night, making a double-header after the already scheduled noon game. With the same forecast today as yesterday, and tomorrow as today, I gotta wonder if they'll play at all.
Surely they'll be compelled as there's not room in the schedule to suffer a three-game cancellation (and the Twins can't afford to miss the opportunities to get some wins...although it is the Rays) or squeeze in three more games. They do play another three-game stand at Target Field in July, so I suppose if they had to they could pull three double-headers in a row. I wonder if that's ever happened.
I'm not normally one to shy away from a motorcycle ride just because of a little rain. I've got waterproof gear, too, so I'm not likely to shy away from a ride in heavy rain, either. Nor am I afraid of a little cold weather or snow. Rain at freezing temperatures leads to sneaky slick spots, though, and that puts me off the two-wheeler. It's only been since Friday, but I'm starting to miss the Valkyrie.
I'm keeping my figurative fingers crossed (or whatever other superstitous notion will work) that the weather will shape up. Both motorcycle riding and baseball are being afflicted. Yard work, too, and rebuilding my fence, but I'm more OK with those delays.
I thought before that Mother Nature was a Twins fan; maybe she's jumped with all of the other fair-weather fans...pun attempt intended (badly, I admit).
