Would-be Suicide Bomber Outed
Reuters shared a story that the recent bust of a would-be suicide bomber is actually an insider for the CIA (indirectly, they imply).
What is wrong with these people or the people who told these people? Why would we admit that?
Why not let it be thought around the world that we're catching the bad guys before bad things happen, and not admit that we can get good guys in undercover with the bad guys? I mean, we can say we have his underwear bomb without saying he was a spy, so what's lost by keeping that secret?
What we lost is an inside track, as now we've made it even riskier for others who may be trying to get undercover to get there, or for those who are in already. As paranoid as the terrorists (rightly) are, they're now going to be even more paranoid. The risk to people already in place has just gone from "insane" to "ungodly-insane." The chances of getting more people into place have just gone from "slim" to "none." I would hazard a guess that we're more likely to successfully build Iron Man suits than to get someone into an inner circle; even someone already in an outer circle, who isn't killed on the spot just 'cause someone doubts more due to this news.
Do people think that anyone thinks this is the first or only guy? Doesn't anyone watch movies or read spy novels?
