The last time that they tried this, a bunch of strongly opinionated people were arguably encouraged by the sitting president, Donald Trump, to march to the Capitol building to try to convince the VP, Mike Pence, that he should stop the ceremony.

This time, there were lots of news discussions about the last time, but the ceremony went off without a hitch, and the VP, Kamala Harris, dutifully certified the new president, again Donald Trump, who defeated her presidential bid.

It's encouraging that the rest of government and the citizenry are behaving well. Hopefully this will continue during the potentially chaotic period to come.
